Disco Kids | Schools Back in Session

With school back in session, it’s time to freshen up some of our very own T&G kids in our Disco Kids cut series. In true TONI&GUY fashion, CEO Zak Mascolo and Creative Director Austin Finley give us some quick tips on ways to freshen up your kid’s locks with achievable and kid friendly techniques.

Let’s start with Gaetano. The ultimate cool kid.

The goal was to take his previous drastic asymmetric undercut to a symmetric shorter, fresh cut. Zak worked simple square layers through the top and utilized the clippers through the back and sides to eliminate length and weight.

Once a majority of the length was removed he used a scissor over comb technique to soften the shape through the sides and clean up the hairline. Although he wanted to maintain the weight through the top, he used channel cutting throughout the top section to break up the weight ever-so-slightly. Point cutting through the fringe added a bit of softness while still maintaining his cool kid edge. Viola!

Next we have Hayden

Austin worked his magic on his charming son Hayden giving him a graduated disconnected shape. Austin reshaped the perimeter of the haircut and worked with an element of vertical graduation and tightened up the nape area to give the style a textured, lived in feel. We love his new look, but more importantly, check out those dimples!

Part three: Luna

Part three of Disco Kids features Zak’s daughter Luna. Luna has long, fine hair (recipe for tangles) and wanted to maintain some length. In order to minimize potential tangles in the back, Zak worked with square layers to achieve Luna’s soft, effortless mane. Let’s face it, for a 6-year-old it’s best to keep the hair layered which allows for natural movement and also cuts down on dry time for power drying, diffusing and every parent’s favorite-air dry aka do nothing.

Part Four: Leila’s Undercut Bob

Disco Kids finishes up with Austin’s sweet + sassy daughter Leila. The bobs and lobs of summer are definitely not going anywhere! Leila’s grown out bob turned lob needed a little TLC. This look can be versatile and modified for several different lengths, lifestyles and hair types…even kids! Austin reshaped Leila’s look and transformed her lob into an undercut bob to complete a simple yet effective statement cut. Diffuse until almost dry and natural texture sets in. Mission accomplished.
